International Mango Festival Delhi 2022

The International mango festival is an annual two-day festival held in Delhi every year in the month of June-July, to display the different varieties of the “King of Fruits”.

People all across the country celebrate this festival with a lot of zeal. It is organized in Delhi at Dilli Haat, Pitampura, by the Delhi Tourism Board in association with the Delhi Government. People have been celebrating this festival since 1987. This festival is also celebrated in other places namely Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune, among others.

This year Mango Festival is happening on 9th-10th July.

Venue: Dilli Haat, Netaji Subhash Palace, Lala Jagat Narayan Marg, Pitampura / Dilli Haat, Lal Sai Mandir Marg, Opp Hari Nagar Bus Depot, Janakpuri

Highlights and Major Attractions of the Festival

The highlights of this mango festival include a Mango Quiz, a Mango eating competition, and the sale of fresh, newly-harvested mangoes and their processed items such as mango pulp, pickles, chutney, mango juices, aam papad, mango jam, etc. With the availability of wide varieties of mango and its processed items, it is allowed for visitors to feast on them for free. Several small mango trees are also available for sale.

In the mango eating competition, different agro-industries and food-processing industries participate and get a chance to showcase their products. The visitors also get exposure to the domestic mango industry and the exporters.

In this two-day festival, the enchanting fragrance of the different varieties of juicy and delicious mangoes floods the Dilli Haat. Visitors from across the country can also witness the same in various states.

There are also some art and craft shows in the festival where visitors can experience a range of performances, including top-level music shows, marvellous dance performances, and quiz competitions based on mangoes.

People looking out for different varieties of delicious mangoes now know where they need to go this mango season.

Different Mango Species in the Festival

There are a total of 1365 species of mangoes grown all across the globe, and India alone caters to over 1000 species of them. This festival hosts more than 1100 species of mangoes from different parts of India and allures countless mango lovers to the fest.

Some of the phenomenal varieties of mango that the fest exhibits include:

  • Dushehari, Langra, Alphonso, Kesar, Papitiyo, Tommy Atkins, Sensation and Nazuk Badan
  • Sirki, Suwarn, Neeleshwari, Royal SP, Raddy Pasand, Himasagar, Kensington, Neelam, Banganpalli; Abdullah, Ramkela, Aishwarya, Bombay Green from Kaleemullah Khan’s nursery
  • Rare species of the fruit Gula by Tariq Mustafa from Purkazi in Muzaffarnagar.

Here, the visitors can find and relish even the rarest of the mango species.

First of all, deboard at the nearest airport in Delhi, which is the Indira Gandhi International Airport. It is well-connected with other Indian cities and towns. From the airport, one can take a cab, auto-rickshaw, metro train, or a bus to reach Dilli Haat, which is at a distance of only 10 km from the airport and gorge on your favourite fruit.
